Reflexology

Reflexology or Zone Therapy is a neuromuscular approach that is a treatment primarily intended for the feet (the hands, head, ears and torso are also included in workable reflex points). This technique is based on the theory that certain points in the foot can improve function of specific body areas far from the zone of manipulation or stimulation.

To properly access a reflex point, its best to identified it by an area that is tender to palpation (overactive). With tenderness the therapist uses relaxation or sedating methods. Points can also be found that have a void or are underactive, it is best to use stimulation on this point to activate reflexology responses.

Reduction of stress throughout the whole body and an increase in energy levels are noted effects of reflexology. The ability to combat diseases is yet to be proven.
