Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique was developed by Frederick Matthias Alexander (1869-1955). It is a method that creates awareness of body alignment to improve posture.

Alexander evolved a hands-on teaching method that encourages the body’s processes to work more efficiently. Restoring balance, posture and freedom of movement. He taught practical self-management through constructive control of habit and reaction. Some of the many uses of the Alexander Technique are to assist in rehabilitation, pain management and stress relief.

The Alexander Technique helps a person discover a new relationship with balance to relieve unnecessary tension. The method can apply to standing, sitting, lying down, walking, lifting and other activities performed daily. This awareness is an education for the mind and body, it doesn’t require treatments or exercises. With giving the appropriate amount of effort for any given activity, energy is preserved and daily duties can be performed with ease.
