The Trager Approach
14 December 2010I was in a Rolfing session today and was told to check out The Trager Approch. We had discussed massages with a movement approach and the massages I give have passive movement that I use that enables me to see where the restrictions are in a joint.
At first when I started reading about Trager, I thought that it was nothing close to what I did. Now I am convinced it would be a great CE to do that would help me further my knowledge and my approach to Massage for my clients.
The Tragerus.org had great resources and articles like this PDF Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. Its a bit of a read but really interesting and even if you don’t want to do Trager CE’s, I would do it anyway.
Rolfing, Where Can It Take Your Practice
6 December 2010Tomorrow marks the 8th Rolfing session I will receive. My decision to start came from the necessity of specialized help for my wrist. I felt the only profitable options opened unto me were PT and Rolfing. I chose Rolfing because I liked the idea that it would help the whole body and not just my left arm. At PT I have been given homework and enjoy the information provided in addition to why it will help me.
In school we heard mentioned the word fascia, but never talked about the sections of fascia and the relation it has on muscle groups. These new experiences I have had with the working of my fascia has prompted more research on my part. During my research this article popped up on NPR, it in turn has lead me to the Fascia Congress, Gil Hedley, and Robert Schleip, PH.D, which have some awesome articles and insights to the knowledge of Fascia. Check it out for yourself and see if the information provided doesn’t enhance your understanding of the body to activate your brain during your next massage session.
Oh, and yes I have 85% ROM back on my wrist and I will soon have 100%. Yeah!!
