Massage and Homework
26 October 2010In my office, we are geared to work more on the therapeutic with a little relaxation or strictly treatment work. Most clients will ask me what they can do at home to improve restrictions they may have. When a client requests this, I will give them homework. For some it is easy to implement it into their daily routine, but for others it is not so easy to start a routine.
It always surprises me when very active clients tell me they only stretch for about 2 minutes before or after there workout, or none at all. Then when I turn to myself and look at what my routine is I am also surprised, I truly need to practice what I preach. It is always easier to tell other people what to do than to take your own advice in that same area of life. I find it interesting how we can see so “clearly” of others but have no clue whatsoever about ourselves.
Here is to checking ourselves out.
?- If I was my client what would I tell myself if I had this issue?
Back to Massaging
13 October 2010Thanks to Acupuncture, Acupressure, and Electro-stim I no longer have pain on movement in my elbow. The Range of Motion is not fully recovered in my wrist yet, however, I am able to give massages in alignment without pain. Breaking up scar tissue is taking a little while, I am not going to lie, it is painful but I want my wrist back.
I am so happy to be practicing again. I have missed the interaction and connections that I have with my clientele. More importantly, I found that when I massage I’m also getting in my relaxation time for the week. It is a nice retreat, yet I must also in my recovery get massages to ensure the health of my body so I can work for a very long time.
I have heard of Rolfing and Structural Integration and have read some things about it, however, I have never tried this modality. So I will check it out next week. Here is to new experiences.
