Whole Body Cold Hydrotherapy Treatment

25 May 2010

You know how in your practice you tend to give the same homework to your clients in a wave. I have talked to many therapist about this subject. My normal self treatment plan consists of heat (hot packs, baths, showers, tubs, saunas…) for some reason I have had an influx of clients needing to utilize cold hydrotherapy. Some even for there whole body. So I had to do some reading to remind myself of the contraindications for full-body cold hydro;

Clients who have kidney disease, cardiovascular, and peripheral neuropathy issues. Clients who get cold easily or just plain say “heck no” to ice. For some reason when clients say cold does not work for them, it just does not work for them. It tends to make things worse???? Always listen to your client, sometimes it just takes time. For some reason I can explain to them the many benefits of cold therapies and as they begin to trust me, the cold therapies actually begin to work for them.
