Protecting Our Interests

21 October 2009

As Massage Therapists it is our duty to do all things possible to protect our fragile, widely  misunderstood profession. As it gains popularity in the educated masses, breaking ill conceived reputations to build on a strong foundation of the true nature of our intentions.

“Do No Harm” rings a solid truth bell in all trained therapists. All the hours spent bent over our reference material and practicing the best techniques for a condition, always with this mantra vibrating in our consciousness.

I have been fortunate to practice massage in the great northwest corner of the states. One of the benefits of this location is the wide number of physicians and family doctors referring their patients to alternative medicine. This corner also produces the highest number of medical professionals that indulge in alternative care themselves.

The majority of my clientele comes from insurance referrals. Being a preferred provider and the location of my office proves to be excellent attractors to my table.  I have been blessed with wonderfully kind and open people. I love a client who comes in wanting to learn how to improve their condition in a lasting way. And then does the homework I give. As a therapists this brings great joy. I know it is simple but it is the truth. The health of our clients tissue is a big concern for us and tips given from a therapists can bring lasting effects on existing pathologies.

So my point is, Massage Therapy is all about protecting our interests. Our interests is the health and vitality of each person we treat. Our interests are our clients interests.  This thought should be first and foremost on every massage client throughout the world.

Massage Website

14 October 2009

The big question is, what can you afford? Is your website going to be hosted and covered in your Liability Insurance expenses. Or are you going to pay a monthly, quarterly or yearly hosting fee to a professional company? Massage magazine had an article about BodysiteBuilders.com, a company that has cookie cutter designs to chose from that give you the power to change and add content yourself.

Three of the major Liability Insurance companies also provide website hosting. AMTA, AMBP and Hands-On. So if you are a member of one of these associations you have no additional charge for your site.

There is also Massagewebdesigns.com, or some helpful information on TheBodyWorker.com. More build it yourself website tips can be found on Bellvuemassagetherapy.com. Check around, and you can really save some money. You must think about how you want to be presented, does it look professional, do I like the look of my site? Ask yourself what is important to you and building your business? Will my site expand with me? Good Luck all, its fun work, the resources are out there. Its up to you to use them.
