Taking Care of Self

9 September 2009

Many CE’s are geared toward the knowledge of Body Mechanics, exercise or movements to improve longevity in your workload. I am sure we have all been taught in our schools proper mechanics, right. But, along with all the other knowledge given, we may have forgotten how important it really is.

I know of a few and have heard of many therapists careers being cut short because of overuse injuries. This happens to be one of our major pathologies we see everyday in our clients. What advise do we give them, what questions are asked and what do we give them for homework? We say, things like; If you want to be comfortable at work change this about your workstation, or this hydrotherapy done morning and night along with stretches or this type of strength exercise, will give you the relief you are looking for.

How hard is it to apply these things in our own lives? Why is it so hard to implement them? What could go wrong if we did? Who suffers if we don’t do these things? Out of all the therapists in this world, who is exempt from getting therapy?
