29 October 2008

Thanks to Patty Glenn and all the other hard working Federation officers for the fine work they continue to do for the Massage Therapy community. I love to see the great things that are happening because of their combined effort and foresight.

State Massage Therapy Boards Needed

28 October 2008

Is it any wonder why any state is in need of Massage Board Regulation? Sure people are going to brake the law, but their will be less of it if the laws are regulated and enforced.

I have a google alert account for Massage, each day I go through the articles and each day their is an account in some state that they have cracked down on prostitution houses posing as Massage Clinics and Therapists with a license to practice. This gives the law abiding MTs a bad name to those who don’t know better. Consumers should be aware that Professional Massages are done by Massage Therapists and the other are done by masseuses.

The quest continues, correct information will reach those willing to learn how to better their lives through professional therapeutic touch.

The wheels are turning for California’s Board.

Finally Standing Up

23 October 2008

Its wrong but it happens, money intended for therapists and instructors never reaching the right hands. Playing off the fear that you might loose your job if too many questions are asked is what dishonest spa business owners rely on.

Boston,s Lenox Spa Employees finely get the word out and get compensated. It is good to see people standing up for what is right and the hardwork being recognized.

Massage Works For All

22 October 2008

Their is no comparison, Massage is an awesome career. You want to work with people, giving them releaf or increase relaxation and decrease stress? Its never a boring job, you are in constant need of learning or trying new techniques. You can go as far or linger as long in a technique as you want to. No two Massages are exactly alike, even on the same person.

Another nice thing about massage is that you can get your CEUs in just about anything relating to the body. You can even get credit in some states for taking a class and learning about Yoga or Tai qi. How does that help our clients? Well if you think about it, your body is your greatest tool, if you don’t keep care, you may end up with a short career. Body alinement is Key to more effective techniques and prevention of injuries to ourselves and taking Tai qi or Yoga help with centering, alinement and balance.

Dont ever think that just because you are done with massage school you are done with learning. Your beggining knowledge has just scratched the surface, their is much to learn lets seek it out and embrace it into our practice.

Thai Massage Training In Thailand

11 October 2008

Ever wonder what it would be like to study Thai Massage at the origin. First 5 day training in Thailand with an english instructor and the credits are approved by NCETMB. Sounds to good to be true? Try adding the price of $100 dollars for that class and then see what you think. Sure you need flight, transpertation and food money but dang, the class I checked out in the states was $450 dollars for the same training by an amarican who probably learned it from this place.

I might be dreaming, who cares this is where I want to learn Thai Massage.

Massage Associations

2 October 2008

As Massage Therapists, it is good to be part of Associations for business and the benefits that come from being a member. I have compiled a list of Associations available for Massage Therapists, along with other helpful associations you might need for your clients or to further your education.

Please let me know if their is one that needs to be added to this list.
