California Massage Therapy Organization
30 September 2008September 27th 2008 marks a new path for California Therapists. I have heard that some are uneasy about this regulation, but if done right will be beneficial not a hindrance. The AMTA, AMBP, Massage Envy and local therapists have played an important part of this long awaited change.
The Bill will go into effect on July 1st 2010, the wheels are in motion. They will have a Massage Practitioner certificate with 250 hours and Massage Therapist certification with 500 hours and most likely a passing Exam score from the NCBTMB or FSMTB. We will hear more as more progress is made.
For updated information on the Bill check out this link.
Atlantic City NJ Massage Conference Cancellation
23 September 2008With all of the Massage Therapists in the US you would think that we would be able to learn about this conference before it is canceled. I must have skipped over the advertisement in my magazine or read about it when I was in a cave. Learning about it now I know I wouldn’t be able to afford to take the time off or be able to travel to Atlantic City NJ on this years budget but If I had a year to plan and save I could make it happen.
Every massage school’s Alumni should have been alerted to this opportunity. I know I still get eMails every once and a while with little anouncements, this would have been great. But now it is canceled and I hope that doesn’t deture from future, hopefully, anuall conferences. WOW seems to be the one in charge, I don’t know. Maybe someone can help me out and maybe get established in the know about the next one.
Massage Benefits In NewsWeek
16 September 2008NewsWeek has an article on the surprising 5 benefits of Massage. Its nice to learn that the word is getting out there and MTs are getting a better reputation for therapeutic applications. We can continue spreading the good word by example, blogs, writing our own articles and word of mouth. Be professional and people will come to you for their preventive medicine.
Man, I love Massage….
To Everything Its Place
15 September 2008If you don’t have a plan established when you graduate from massage school and you only want to work doing Massage. Massage Envy can help you give massages while you build your business ideas and practice.
Many graduates believe their business will take off right away and wont need to have another source of income. Any business takes 2 to 4 years to be established. How can you make a living working as a MT for those first years only doing massage?
I was under the impression that Massage Envy didn’t care about their Therapists, but I have learned otherwise. If you think about it, more and more Massage Envy clinics opening across the states means dollars spent by ME to help MTs get started right out of school. They even have a department within the ME corporation that maintains relations between the clinics and therapists.
As I learn more I will let you know.

1 September 2008What an awesome idea. I came across this article on the net, check it out. You don’t have to be an instructor just someone that has a successful business that can keep up with all the accounting, booking and advertisement needs of a new business.
