Health Benefit Fairs

9 April 2008

If you ever want to know how to get into the Chair Massage for Corporation business, go to a company’s Benefit Fair. Most larger companies HR department has a budget for the promotion of information of services that are available to their employees.
Yesterday was my second Health / Benefit Fair I went to. Both times the HR Manager became interested in exploring the option to have me come in on a regular bases. Now If I weren’t so busy already I would find out a way to pursue this. Have Chair Will Travel, but what I was most interested in was finding people with Massage Insurance benefits to come in for a Full Body Hour long massage. This time it turned out to be the other vendors that were interested only a few employees really grasped the thought of using their insurance to get massages.
So if anyone lives in the Vancouver WA area and wants a heads up on these two companies that are dabbling in getting Chair Massages for their employees, shoot me an email I will be glad to give you the company names. I am hearing of many people giving up on their Massage careers, getting a contract with a couple of companies could make you a living. You could even have employees if you get interest and experience on your tool belt.

Can Anyone Say Tax Time

7 April 2008

I normally have my taxes done by February, but not his year. I have two sections, the Federal annual and State quarterly due. This is the first time I have ever had to pay Federal, so it is a little weird for me not to get anything back. I guess that goes with the territory of owning your own business.

It has been taking me longer to get everything compiled, I have learned very valuable lessons this year in preparation for next. I truly thought I could just use whatever credit cards and keep track that way. Now I have learned it truly is better to have just one credit card to keep all your transactions on. I have that now, I wish I had started out with it. Oh, I found you can even write off laundry expenses.

As the world turns, these are the lessons we learn the hard way.

Thinking About A Hot Stone Massage

2 April 2008

Where do I start, well I was skeptical. Using rocks in a massage as a student just didn’t sound right. Then when I graduated there was a lot of talk about, hot stone massage this and hot stone massage that. It wasn’t until I had the great pleasure of working with my fellow room renter at our Acupuncture Clinic that I fully understood the awesome that is Hot Stones.

Right away she said to come in and see her to get a massage. What could it hurt? That is when I was hooked; she even walked me through my first stone massage and showed me the best ways to hold the rocks for better alignment and tricks of the trade. Then for my CEUs I got the Japanese Hot Stone book and DVDs. Can anyone say, best move ever?

Everyone that comes in with the exception of two of my regulars who love their hour and a half Deep Tissue Massages Love the hot stones. If you haven’t had a hot stone massage, I suggest you do so. If you work in a Therapeutic setting, this modality is for you.

Wishing you Luck in all your endeavors, have a great day.

Ashmead Changed to Everest College

1 April 2008

I live in the Great Northwest, the school I attended for Massage has been going through many transitions, all of them not good, as far as I am concerned. The newly implemented curriculum doesn’t cover nearly as much useful techniques or information as the awesome curriculum it had before. There is always room for improvement and when you have knowledgeable professionals helping to structure curriculum, it is best to get feedback before implementing the changes.

We had about 4 books given to us to use in conjunction with our learning at Ashmead, now they have more then doubled the amount of books with only half the amount of useful information. It was hard enough getting past the lax reputation that Ashmead had acquired with the Employers of our field in the area. Now the curriculum changed and adds the question; Is their new curriculum fundamental enough to provided graduating students useful information in order to do there jobs properly?
