Massage Is Preventative Medicine
26 December 2007I came across this website today prevent.org. I found myself wondering why our Massage Organizations aren’t trying to get their foot in the door with these guys. I read this speech by John Clymer Partnership for Prevention President in front of the American Health Care Congress in October 16th of this year.
Unfortunately his speech didn’t mention alternative care for prevention. He did however talk about tobacco products being regulated by the FDA, asking the Federal Trade Commission to regulate advertising junk food to kids, raising the excise tax on alcohol and preventative services included in Medicare and Medicaid.
I whole hardily agree with our friend and maybe this is the first step to a better healthcare system stepping away from what he called a “disease care system” adjusting our priorities to prevention and not intervention. Pointing out that only 5% or less of each healthcare dollar is dedicated to preventative care.
Where is the partnership with the Massage, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Herbologist, Nutritionist, Chiropractors, and all forms of CAM?s. We all need to be part of this organization, even our Non-Profit organizations. Its great he is hooking up with the U.S Chamber of Commerce that?s a start, but if we were to educate the masses I think getting on the ground floor with Prevent.Org would be beneficial for us all.
